Role Purpose.
The QA Engineer will drive software quality improvements by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Success. The engineer will develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, analyse requirements for testability, and maintain robust automated and manual test suites. Core responsibilities include identifying, documenting, and tracking bugs, performing root cause analysis, and conducting mobile and web testing to ensure seamless user experiences. The role also emphasises test automation, process documentation, and continuous knowledge sharing to promote quality across the organisation. The position aims to reduce defect rates, enhance customer satisfaction, and optimise team productivity.
As a key member of an Agile Scrum team, the QA Engineer will play a critical role in achieving sprint goals by implementing shift-left testing strategies, identifying early testing opportunities, and advocating for automation to increase delivery efficiency.
Job requirements
Required Skills & Knowledge:
Proven expertise with TypeScript, leveraging it to develop custom test frameworks, automation scripts, and data manipulation tools.
Advanced proficiency in modern front-end test automation frameworks, such as Playwright or Cypress (or similar JavaScript-based frameworks).
Strong manual testing skills with a user-focused approach, championing the end-user experience and usability.
Desirable Skills & Knowledge:
Experience with multiple programming languages and the ability to select the right tool for specific testing scenarios (Go is also utilised in our environment).
Familiarity with production logging and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Mixpanel) to assist in isolating customer-facing issues and providing detailed bug context.
Proficiency in scripting and automation, using tools like Bash to streamline QA processes.
Advocacy for best practices in quality assurance, including the creation and refinement of standards for test planning, execution, and reporting.
Experience working within Agile frameworks, with active participation and thought leadership in sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
Salary & Benefits:
Basic salary - £40,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience
Company bonus (discretionary) - up to 10% of your annual salary
5 weeks (25 days) annual leave + bank holidays, plus your birthday off
